At the invitation of Sitra, the Finnish Innovation Fund, East of Moon's Arnar Sigurðsson joined civil servants, researchers, teachnologist and innovators from across Europe for a two day hackathon in Helsinki on March 9 - 10th 2026.
The objective of the event was to create the foundations for Voxit, a trusted and adaptable solution that can has the potential to become digital infrastructure for public discourse and an alternative to the current echo chambers and algorythmically engagement fuelled conversations taking place on social media today.
Voxit is a European implementation of Polis, specifically adapted to GDPR data protection standards, indepence from propriatary services and adaptable to diverse use cases. It will become a participation tool where thousands of people can engage in digital discourse to explore policy themes through statements they contribute themselves.
Voxit belongs to the category of civic tech solutions, in a similar way as East of Moon's Missions.dev platform.
